Preview: Kurios – Cabinet of Curiosities by Cirque du Soleil
This July, the circus is back, as the award-winning Canadian circus Cirque du Soleil returns with the Singaporean premiere of acclaimed touring show KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities™. As with all recent circus shows, they’ll be arriving in style, setting up tent on Bayfront Avenue beside Marina Bay Sands, and promises an epic, out of this world storyline and acts to bowl you over with.
Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience into a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm, set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality itself bends and changes according to our perception of it, where the limit is one’s own imagination, and where audiences are about to meet The Seeker, a scientist convinced that there exists a hidden world – a place where the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await.
The curios cabinet comprises an international cast of 47 artists from 17 countries, a collection of otherworldly characters made up of world-class gymnasts, acrobats, contortionists, hand-puppeteers, yo-yo wizards, clowns, actors and musicians. Together they’ll turn the Seeker’s steampunk world upside-down guided by an energetic gypsy jazz, electro swing soundtrack.
Says Mr P. Subramaniam, Chief Marketing Officer, M1, which first brought Cirque to Singapore as presenting partner 20 years ago:“Since 1999, M1 has been proudly presenting Cirque du Soleil’s Big Top experience in Singapore, starting from Saltimbanco through to Kooza in 2017. This year, we are delighted to celebrate our 20th anniversary in collaboration as KURIOS’ presenting sponsor, and to yet again bring this thrilling experience to Singapore and our customers.”
Get ready to have your minds blown and your imaginations stretched, and this July, enter the world of the curious with Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios, where anything and everything is possible.
