In celebration of the upcoming mid-autumn festival, Grand Shanghai has unveiled an exquisite assortment of limited-edition mooncakes ahead of its highly-anticipated reopening in September 2019. Now available for order, the award-winning restaurant will offer a selection of these decadent confections in six varieties with a mix of classic and new flavours, including a spin on the local favourite Shanghainese style, lava egg custard with salted egg yolk.
Perfect for family gatherings or as a gift for treasured friends and loved ones, the mooncakes come wrapped in a luxurious box reminiscent of the restaurant’s iconic 1930s Shanghainese extravagance and grandeur. Lovingly handmade by Grand Shanghai’s chefs in-house, each mooncake is skilfully crafted using premium ingredients, such as organic egg yolks and a traditional baking method with no preservatives. The timeless Cantonese mooncake is a perennial favourite.
Lightly baked golden crust is filled with a smooth, rich lotus paste and salty yolk, with melon seeds added to enhance the flavour and mouthfeel. Enjoy classics such as the Traditional Baked White Lotus Paste with Double Yolks ($62 per set of four), Traditional Baked White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk ($60 per set of four) or the Traditional Baked White Lotus Paste with Melon seeds ($58 per set of four).
To truly experience the flavour of Grand Shanghai, try its signature Shanghainese-style mooncakes – Shanghainese Crispy Red Date Paste ($58 per set of four) or Shanghainese Crispy Yam Paste ($58 per set of four) – a centre of delicious, slow-cooked yam or red date paste encased in a buttery, flaky pastry. In a nod to modern palates, the restaurant has also introduced a new flavour – Shanghainese Lava Egg Custard with Salted Egg Yolk ($68 per set of six) which combines the fragrant, creamy custard with crisp pastry in one indulgent mouthful.
Grand Shanghai mooncakes can be ordered from now to 13th September 2019 by calling +65 6836 6866 or emailing restaurant@grandshanghai.com. UOB cardholders are eligible for a 25% discount off any mooncake box.
