Following Mumford & Sons and Honne to perform on the second day of the festival, Neon Lights Festival has announced Sunday headliner act as Grammy nominee and multi-platinum superstar Halsey, with Norwegian electro-pop artist AURORA also announced for its Sunday bill, when the festival returns to Fort Canning Park on Saturday, 23rd and Sunday 24th November.

Continuing a juggernaut year that has seen her release three massive record-breaking singles ahead of the release of her third studio album later this year, Halsey will be debuting a newly-conceived spectacular audio-visual show with a full live band. Just last week, Halsey was nominated for six MTV Video Music Awards, including Artist of the Year.

Since her professional debut in 2014, Halsey has already been nominated for multiple awards and won at Billboard Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and even set three Guinness World Records in April with Boy with Luv, a collaboration with K-Pop sensation BTS. At just 24 years old, she has been already been recognised for her efforts as an activist for various causes, and is known for her unapologetic lyrics and multi-platinum hits such as GhostCloser (feat. The Chainsmokers), Him & I, and Eastside (feat. Benny Blanco and Khalid).

Kicking off her new album campaign in December last year with the outspoken single Without Me, which broke records as the longest-running Billboard 100 top 10 hit by a female artist in this century, and topped charts in the US, UK, Australia and Malaysia amongst other countries. She followed up with the powerful anthem, Nightmare, which examines the expectations placed on women in our society and proceeds to shatter them. To date, the new single has been streamed some 205 million times globally in the two months since its release, and led to her first Rolling Stone cover last month. Halsey is putting up her only performance in Southeast Asia right here on the Neon Lights stage, and fans can expect nothing less than a raw and cathartic set from the boundary-pushing American when she plays on Sunday.

Joining Halsey on Sunday will be electro-pop artist AURORA who previously played Singapore at Laneway Festival in 2017. Often compared to her own idol Björk, the prolific singer-songwriter has released two EPs and two studio albums to date. AURORA shot to fame when she covered Oasis’ ‘Half The World Away’ and it was used for a 2015 John Lewis Christmas ad in the UK,, and has since led her to greater heights. AURORA’s most recent work was produced in two parts – EP Infections of a Different Kind – Step 1 released in 2018, and the follow up studio album A Different Kind of Human – Step 2 released just last month. Characterized by her alluring crisp voice and enigmatic personality, the Queendom singer will be a most enchanting act to take in live at Fort Canning Park, surrounded greenery that inspires much of her music.

Says Ms Carrie Kwik, Executive Director, Attractions, Entertainment & Tourism Concept Development, Singapore Tourism Board: “We are proud to have top entertainers like Halsey and Mumford & Sons perform at Neon Lights this year, especially with Singapore being Halsey’s only stop in Southeast Asia. These renowned music acts add to this year’s strong line-up of performances that showcase Singapore’s appeal as an exciting entertainment hub in the region, and we are confident that Neon Lights 2019 will continue to impress festival-goers.”

More music and arts acts are still to be announced for the Neon Lights bill in the coming weeks and months.

Neon Lights 2019 takes place on 23rd and 24th November 2019 at Fort Canning Park. More information available from their website, with tickets released on 19th July 2019.
