Laughter Is: Kuala Lumpur Invades The Merry Lion Club (Preview)
Funny Business KL is crossing the Causeway and parking right at Singapore’s Merry Lion Club this weekend, with a double headliner act supported by rising stars of the Malaysian comedy scene from 22nd to 23rd November.
Kuala Lumpur Invades will be led by Keren Bala Devan and Brian Tan, with support from the hilarious hijabi Nuha and deadpan delight, Jhonney Athie. Known for being an angry funny man (or funny angry man), Keren Bala Devan is a staple of the Kuala Lumpur comedy scene. With his stints on Comedy Central Asia and Astro, Keren has honed comedic mind and his penchant for angry outbursts, making being yelled at a fun and enjoyable experience – to most…
Brian Tan made history when he was invited to be on the inaugural lineup for the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s prestigious Comedy Zone Asia. Now having worked alongside the biggest names in Asian comedy, Brian’s affable charm and effortless delivery soften the blow of hard-hitting punchlines and the occasional pun-based sociopolitical commentary. Nuha A is a humorous hijabji dedicated to spreading the gospel of halal humour, satisfying her addiction to laughs through stand-up comedy, with her ultimate goal to become Phoebe ‘Banana Hammock’ Buffay. And finally, Jhonney Athie is an intriguing Sabahan-Thai, deadpan comedian relating his difficulties growing up mixed, and also happens to know interesting facts about animals!
If life’s got you down, rest assured, you don’t have to travel far to get a bellyful of laughs, as KL Invades the Merry Lion Club this November.
