With the restrictions on live performances still ongoing, the Esplanade is still powering through with more online performances and digital versions of their regularly scheduled programmes. The latest of these that has been announced is a new, online version of Jazz in July, celebrating jazz and its diverse subgenres and outfits.

Louis Soliano & Jonathan Saiman will perform on 12th July

A staple of the Esplanade’s programme for the last 12 years, Jazz in July is back to showcase Singapore jazz artists over the month, and hone audience members’ appreciation for the genre. With this 13th edition, come join the Esplanade online and enjoy the diversity of Singapore’s jazz scene with performances both filmed live and streamed from the Esplanade Concourse.

Rani Singam & Chok Kerong will perform on 27th July

While past editions have tended to feature ensembles of varying sizes from trios to big bands, this year, the Esplanade focuses instead on showcasing intimate jazz duets that bring forth the sensitivity, openness and trust in a musical friendship. Audiences can look forward to 24 unique pairings by 43 jazz artists based in Singapore including Cultural Medallion recipient Louis Soliano, veteran jazz vocalists Rani Singam and Alemay Fernandez as well as pianists Aya Sekine and Chok Kerong. In addition, the young alumni of the Mosaic Jazz Fellows mentorship will also be performing, such as vocal-piano duo Siti Nur Iman and Lee Ann Gie.

All performances will be livestreamed on Esplanade Offstage and Esplanade’s Facebook page daily 8pm, with the video of each performance available for viewing on the same platforms till 8pm the following day. From vocal performances to instrumental duos, there’s sure to be something for everyone to fall in love with the power of jazz from our greatest and most promising local jazz artists.

Jazz In July runs from 4th to 31st July 2020. For more information, visit their website here
