Continuing to explore the boundless realms of R&B, Yeo shares his first single of 2021, U IN? just in time to herald in Lunar New Year. Be it new beginnings or familiar faces, U IN? tells the story of an unexpected conversation leading to a potential relationship with someone that has been in and out of your life for years.
Infusing laidback melodies and rapid-fire verses with ‘90s-inspired bass and a slick keytar solo to finish, Yeo shares witty repartee intertwining recollections of conversation and feelings on this effortless bop. First revealed mid-year of 2020, U IN? saw its debut on LA-based tastemakers We Found New Music. With drummer Andrew Congues, U IN? was performed live in their respective studios during lockdown. Never shying away from self-reflection and his cultural identity, last year saw Yeo performing in a language other than English for the first time, releasing the duet 好好的過 (Have A Nice Life) with Taiwanese-Australian singer-songwriter Chendy in Mandarin which was well-received by tastemakers and playlist curators around South-East Asia.
U IN? is the first in a string of singles to be released this year and is accompanied by a cooking series of Yeo preparing and serving up his favourite Asian comfort dishes: char siu, tauhu telur and steamed whole snapper. The cooking series will be revealed with each single release.
