How Drama may best be known for their beloved Fat Kids Are Harder To Kidnap sketch series, but this December, they’re changing up the formula and presenting Big Brown Girl, a brand new performance in conjunction with Esplanade – Theatre on the Bay’s Flipside 2021 programme.
Presented both live and digitally, Big Brown Girl is all about Ruby, a self-professed big brown girl from Singapore who is looking for that special someone in her life. To do that, she’s going to embark on an epic adventure via dating app, swiping left and right to find the perfect match.
With her dates spanning Singapore, Malaysia, Washington D.C and Paris, it’s a world tour of eligible bachelors Ruby will be working her way through the course of the show. From a Parisian DJ who whisks her off her feet, to the Nigerian with a dark secret, living across the causeway, audience members themselves can be a part of the production, as they choose the story they want to hear. Both on-site and online audiences will determine which of these encounters Ruby will experience in this hour-long production packed with humour, vulnerability and heart.
Starring Ross Nasir, this December, get ready to play matchmaker, as this unique production gives you the cards to Ruby’s fate – no two shows will be the same, and you can expect every date to be a brand new experience for both you and Ruby, with Big Brown Girl.
Big Brown Girl runs from 10th to 12th and 17th to 19th December 2021 at the Esplanade Theatre Studio and online. Tickets available here
