To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Singapore-ROK Diplomatic Relations this year, the Singapore Embassy in Seoul, in collaboration with Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and the National Arts Council (NAC), proudly presents a special performance of Infinitely Closer by T.H.E Dance Company, Singapore’s leading contemporary dance company, on Thursday, 24 April 2025 at 7.30pm at the Grand Theater, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul.
The performance will be attended by invited guests from the ROK government, Diplomatic Corps, and Singapore’s partners from sectors such as business, academia, media and arts & culture. A limited number of complimentary tickets to the performance will be made available to members of the public through the Singapore Embassy’s official Instagram and Facebook pages.
The ROK is an important cultural partner of Singapore. Both countries share a strong commitment to cultural richness, bringing our arts to the next bound by cultivating artistic talent, excellence and innovation. Through regular cultural cooperation, we have consistently showcased each country’s unique cultures, fostering a deeper appreciation for them, both locally and abroad.
Infinitely Closer is directed and choreographed by Kuik Swee Boon, founding Artistic Director of T.H.E Dance Company. In line with its exploration of freedom and what it means, the audience will experience an immersive setting with movement, light, multimedia, and sound merging into an evershifting landscape, where athletic, intricate choreography interacts with ephemeral holographic projections and immersive three-dimensional soundscapes.
T.H.E Dance Company Artistic Director Kuik said: “T.H.E Dance Company has had the privilege of cultivating deep artistic relationships with the ROK over the past decade, through collaborations, residencies, and festivals. It is an honour to mark this diplomatic milestone with a performance that underscores how the arts create space for dialogue, resonance, and shared humanity beyond borders.”
NAC Chief Executive Officer Mr Low Eng Teong said: “NAC is proud to support the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the ROK, through the arts. Performances, such as Infinitely Closer by T.H.E Dance Company, speaks volumes of the people-to-people links that we have, which we will continue to nurture and strengthen through cultural cooperation with our partners in the ROK. NAC looks forward to more cross-cultural exchanges and projects which showcase Singapore’s thriving arts ecosystem, allowing our local talent to also reach and cultivate an international audience base.”
Singapore Ambassador to the ROK Mr Eric Teo said: “It is heartening that an initial idea to feature a Singapore arts & cultural group in the ROK on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Singapore-ROK diplomatic relations is coming into fruition through close collaboration with the NAC and T.H.E Dance Company. I hope that this performance will help deepen the cultural understanding between our two countries and our peoples.”
