da:ns focus 2025: FL/OW (The FULL OUT Weekend)

Singapore’s street dance calendar has never been busier—but every two years, one weekend stands out. From 11–14 December 2025, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay brings back FL/OW (The FULL OUT Weekend) for its second edition, promising four days of adrenaline-fuelled movement, artistic innovation, and community celebration. As part of da:ns focus, FL/OW is more than a festival—it’s a reflection of how far Singapore’s street dance ecosystem has come, and how boldly it continues to evolve.

“Singapore’s street dance scene has long been active and ever evolving,” says producer Iris Cheung. “With FL/OW, we hope not only to complement this vibrant ecosystem, but also to spotlight how street dance continues to expand in form, style and influence.”

This year’s programming delivers exactly that: a showcase of global excellence, emerging Singapore creativity, and a daring new expansion of what street dance can look like on a theatre stage.

A major addition to this year’s line-up is FL/OW’s first-ever full-length theatrical production—a bold step in the festival’s growth. Enter Elements of Freestyle by the award-winning ISH Dance Collective (The Netherlands). Known for blending hip hop with contemporary dramaturgy, ISH reimagines street forms through an unexpected fusion: breaking, parkour, freestyle basketball, inline skating, BMX Flatland, skateboarding—even string duets.

The result is a high-energy performance that defies simple categorisation. It’s street. It’s theatre. It’s something entirely new. Cheung describes it as “a work that challenges conventions… expanding the vocabulary of what street dance can be on stage, blurring genres, redefining structure, and pushing the very boundaries of street dance theatre.”

Of course, no FL/OW weekend would be complete without its iconic centrepiece: FULL OUT! Now in its fifth edition, the showcase remains the heart of the festival—a fiercely entertaining collision of artistry, technique and raw energy.

The 2025 line-up is stacked with international heavyweights:

CDK Company (The Netherlands) – an internationally renowned collective known for precision and avant-garde musicality

JINJO Crew (South Korea) – Grand Slam B-boy champions whose explosive power sets global standards

kirameki☆glitter (Japan) – a young, fierce hip hop crew celebrated for their unity, charisma and crisp execution

They share the stage with Singapore’s all-star ensemble KITA, led by local dance icon Ahmad Kamil, representing homegrown excellence at its finest. Expect signature styles, gravity-defying stunts, and crowd-pleasing showmanship—but also new creative directions, as each crew explores ways to push street dance beyond its familiar limits. FULL OUT! is more than a showcase; it’s a curated snapshot of global street dance culture at its most electric.

At the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre, FL/OW continues its commitment to nurturing local talent through 5.6.7.8, a platform developed in partnership with O School. This stage celebrates emerging Singapore choreographers and crews experimenting across the dance spectrum—from street to contemporary, Afro and more.

Each piece offers audiences a glimpse of the next generation: dancers who are shaping the direction of Singapore’s movement arts with fresh ideas, hybrid vocabularies, and fearless creativity.

FL/OW 2025 boasts its most diverse and exciting masterclass programme yet. Seven exclusive sessions give intermediate dancers the rare chance to learn directly from award-winning artists featured in the festival.

Beyond dance, the classes broaden the definition of “street movement,” including BMX Flatland and inline skating. It’s a unique opportunity to sharpen skills, explore new disciplines, and gain insight into the craft and mindset behind world-class performance.

No street dance festival is complete without a proper throwdown. Saturday night, FL/OW teams up with Danz People to bring back the FL/OW AFTER PARTY—a celebration with no stage, no judges, and no filters. Just raw beats, real vibes, and the simple joy of dancing next to friends, strangers, and maybe even your favourite FL/OW stars.

From boundary-breaking theatre to global crew battles, youth platforms to late-night jams, FL/OW champions the full spectrum of street dance culture—its creativity, its community, and its constant evolution.

Cheung sums it up best: “We’ve curated a programme that brings together award-winning crews, artists who inspire the next generation, and opportunities for community, self-expression and fun.”

This December, the Esplanade transforms into the epicentre of street dance in Singapore and the region. Whether you’re a dancer, an arts lover, or simply curious about the future of movement, FL/OW 2025 is the place to be. It’s gonna be full out, for real.

FL/OW 2025 runs from 12th to 14th December 2025 at the Esplanade. More information available here
