Singapore’s arts scene is about to get a major dose of colour, nostalgia and playfulness. This June and July, IMBA Theatre at Gardens by the Bay will host two highly anticipated experiences by internationally acclaimed Australian artist Cj Hendry, marking her Southeast Asia debut. First comes Flower Market, the immersive installation that has drawn hours-long queues and overwhelming demand in cities including New York, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Sydney. It will be followed by juju world, the world’s first inflatable experience dedicated to Hendry’s cult-favourite juju collectible series.
Known for her hyperrealistic large-scale drawings and immersive installations that blur the boundaries between art, spectacle and popular culture, Hendry has built a global following by creating works that invite participation rather than passive observation. Both experiences will take over IMBA Theatre’s gallery space at Gardens by the Bay, with Flower Market running from 10 to 14 June and juju world opening from 20 June to 18 July.

At first glance, Flower Market looks familiar. But step inside and visitors will find themselves in a fantastical version of a neighbourhood flower stall, filled with oversized plush blooms designed to evoke the simple joy of choosing flowers. Conceived as a celebration of slow living, the installation encourages visitors to browse, pick up stems and experiment with different combinations before creating their own bouquet.

The Singapore edition will feature more than 30 flower varieties, including eight designed exclusively for the local debut. Among them are the Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, Singapore’s national flower, the distinctive Raffles’ Pitcher Plant and the vibrant Singapore Ginger Flower. Entry is free, with pre-registration encouraged. Every visitor will receive a complimentary flower, offering a starting point for their own floral arrangement.

Just days after Flower Market closes, Hendry will unveil juju world, a world-first experience built around her wildly popular juju collectible toy series. The immersive inflatable installation will introduce the first yellow juju experience, presenting a bold new colourway for the collection. Adding to its exclusivity, limited large-sized jujus will be created specifically for Singapore and will not be available anywhere else once the exhibition concludes on 18 July.
The project continues Hendry’s signature approach of transforming everyday objects and emotions into surreal, highly shareable environments that invite audiences to play, explore and reconnect with a sense of wonder. Together, Flower Market and juju world represent the most ambitious presentation of Hendry’s work in Southeast Asia to date.

For IMBA Theatre, the collaboration reflects a shared belief that art should be accessible, joyful and welcoming. Michael Lee, CEO, IMBA, commented, “IMBA Theatre is where curiosity grows. We’re excited to partner with Cj Hendry, whose work embodies everything we believe art and culture can be – bold, playful, and genuinely for everyone. Both Flower Market and juju world invite visitors to participate, not just observe; to touch, choose, and take something home. Cj’s installations cross every boundary of language, age and background, and we see real potential to build programming and community experiences around them. We can’t wait to welcome Singapore to these two experiences.”
The Singapore Tourism Board sees the exhibition as another milestone in the city’s growing reputation as a regional arts and culture destination. Teyi Guo, Director, Leisure Events, Singapore Tourism Board, added, “We welcome Cj Hendry’s works to Southeast Asia for the first time. Flower Market and juju world are bold and imaginative experiences that add to Singapore’s growing pipeline of world-class events, reinforcing our position as a compelling destination for arts and culture lovers from around the region and beyond. We look forward to seeing both come to life at Gardens by the Bay, inspiring both locals and visitors to discover the joy and creativity that bloom in Singapore.”

For Hendry herself, the Singapore debut is about creating shared experiences that transcend cultural boundaries. “Presenting my works in Southeast Asia with IMBA feels incredibly exciting because these activations represent our shared emotion and universal experiences, from curiosity to adolescence and nostalgia,” she said. “This double bill at IMBA Theatre will spark joy among new audiences in the region, demonstrating that art is meant for everyone. This is something I value enormously in my practice and I hope audiences will treasure during the two limited runs at IMBA Theatre at Gardens by the Bay.”
Both experiences will take over IMBA Theatre’s gallery space at Gardens by the Bay, with Flower Market running from 10th to 14th June and juju world opening from 20th June to 18th July (Ticketed admission. Pre-registration is recommended, though walk-ins are welcome.)
