Preview: And Then There Were None by The Winter Players

For fans of gripping whodunits, suspense-filled nights at the theatre, and classic literary adaptations, June is bringing a chilling treat to Singapore’s stage. Following a string of sold-out productions, local theatre collective The Winter Players is returning with And Then There Were None, Agatha Christie’s legendary murder mystery that remains the best-selling crime novel of all time. Running from 25 to 28 June at the KC Arts Centre, the production also marks the final chapter of the company’s two-year residency with Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT).

Widely regarded as Christie’s darkest and most psychologically intense work, And Then There Were None has captivated audiences for decades with its intricate plotting, mounting paranoia and shocking twists. The stage adaptation was written by Christie herself, adding an extra layer of authenticity for devotees of the “Queen of Crime”.

“It is one of Christie’s most psychologically charged works and a hallmark of the genre, an experience full of suspense, paranoia and intricate murders,” remarks the play’s Director, Feroz J. Malik. “A classic murder mystery or ‘whodunit’ has always been on our list, and And Then There Were None felt like the perfect choice.”

The story begins with ten strangers invited to an isolated island mansion under mysterious circumstances. Upon arrival, they discover that their unseen host knows intimate details of their pasts. As a sinister nursery rhyme foretells their fate, guests begin dying one by one, leaving those remaining to question everyone — and everything — around them.

Beyond the mystery itself, the production is notable for bringing together one of The Winter Players’ most diverse ensembles to date. Established performers such as Ebi Shankara and Sharon Mah share the stage with a younger generation of rising theatre talents, including Miriam Cheong, Adeeb Fazah, Medli Dorothea Loo, Ramzie Tahar and Shannen Tan. Newcomers León Saint Claire, Barathan Naicker and Nishanth Kumar also join the cast, creating a cross-generational showcase of Singaporean theatre talent.

“Two years with SRT have flown by, and this meaningful chapter has laid the foundation of our collective’s journey,” shares Marwyn Ho, Artistic Director of The Winter Players. “Through their expertise, generosity and belief in our work, SRT gave us the platform to grow in ambition, rigour and scale. The mentorship, support and nurturing environment they have provided has given us the confidence and credibility to bring together, for the very first time, a cast that bridges generations of our growing industry. I cannot thank them enough for taking such a direct and deliberate step towards championing our growth, and for the wonderful relationship we have had the privilege of building with them.”

Since launching under SRT’s Company-in-Residence Programme, The Winter Players has built a reputation for breathing new life into literary classics. Productions such as Constellations, Much Ado About Nothing, Hedda Gabler and Doctor Faustus have attracted both dedicated theatre lovers and first-time audiences, with multiple sold-out runs helping the collective cultivate a growing following.

For audiences seeking an evening of suspense, intrigue and old-school detective storytelling, And Then There Were None promises a compelling escape into one of literature’s most enduring mysteries.

And Then There Were None plays from 25th to 28th June 2026 at the KC Arts Centre. Tickets available from BookMyShow
