Anthony Chen’s We Are All Strangers (我们不是陌生人) has earned seven nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards, giving the Singaporean filmmaker’s Growing Up trilogy another major moment on the international film circuit.
Announced in Taipei earlier this evening, the nominations include Best Narrative Feature Film and Best Director for Chen, alongside acting recognition for Yeo Yann Yann and Andi Lim WeiWen, who makes his big-screen debut in the film.
The film’s seven nominations are:
- Best Narrative Feature Film: We Are All Strangers (我们不是陌生人)
- Best Director: 陳哲藝 Anthony Chen
- Best Leading Actress: 楊雁雁 Yeo Yann Yann, as Lee Bee Hwa
- Best Supporting Actor: 林偉文 Andi Lim WeiWen, as Lim Boon Kiat
- Best Makeup & Costume Design: 李瑋思 Irin Lee & 吳秀紅 Red Ngoh
- Best Original Film Score: 何堅良 Kin Leonn & 福多瑪 Thomas Foguenne
- Best Editing: 陳合平 Chen Ho-ping
For Chen, the nominations mark the latest chapter in a long-running relationship between the Golden Horse Awards and his Growing Up trilogy, which began with Ilo Ilo and continued with Wet Season.
The Golden Horse story began with Ilo Ilo, which won four awards at the 50th Golden Horse Awards in 2013, including Best Feature Film, Best New Director and Best Original Screenplay for Chen, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Yeo Yann Yann.

Six years later, Yeo took home Best Leading Actress at the 56th Golden Horse Awards for Wet Season. Her nomination for We Are All Strangers now gives her recognition for her performances across all three films, underlining the continuity of Chen’s trilogy and her place within it.
The latest nominations also extend recognition beyond the film’s director and lead performer. Andi Lim WeiWen is nominated for Best Supporting Actor as Lim Boon Kiat, marking a significant debut on the big screen.
Behind the scenes, Irin Lee and Red Ngoh are recognised for Best Makeup & Costume Design, while Chen Ho-ping receives a nomination for Best Editing. The film’s original score has also been shortlisted, with Singaporean composer Kin Leonn, known for The Breaking Ice, and Thomas Foguenne, composer of Stranger Eyes, nominated for Best Original Film Score.
Together, the seven nominations span directing, acting, craft and music, reflecting the breadth of the film’s recognition at this year’s awards.

The Golden Horse nominations arrive after a year of international attention for We Are All Strangers.
The film had its world premiere in Competition at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival before going on to open the Hong Kong International Film Festival. It also received a Special Mention at the Far East Film Festival in Udine.
The film, which is supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA), was recently selected as Singapore’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards.
Yeo Yann Yann has also picked up further recognition, receiving a nomination for Best Performance at the 19th Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
With its latest Golden Horse nominations, We Are All Strangers continues a journey that has taken Chen’s trilogy from Singapore to some of the region’s and world’s major film platforms — while bringing its returning performers and creative collaborators along for the ride.
The winners of the 63rd Golden Horse Awards will be announced on Sunday, 22 November 2026, at the Taipei Music Center. The red carpet begins at 5pm, followed by the ceremony at 6.30pm Taipei time (GMT+8). The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival runs from 6 to 22 November 2026.
