Go on an art adventure this weekend with all the family with Goodman Arts Centre’s annual open house! Themed Re: Imagined this year, the family-friendly festival will feature over 20 different workshops and performances for all ages, this time with a focus on embracing environmentally sustainable ways to create and present art.

Over at Block O, be enchanted by larger than life cardboard sculptures created by cardboard artist Bartholomew Ting with Superhero Me – Exhibition. The ground-up, inclusive playground creates an interactive play space for all ages and abilities, including a wheelchair accessible obstacle course and workshops for all to socialise and better appreciate the arts. At the Astroturf, Mural Lingo’s Reimagine – An Exhibition will showcase creative use of discarded everyday objects, and is part of the collective’s Conscious Camp programme, which includes a live mural painting and workshops such as one that teachers participants how to create natural paints using elements from the world around them.

Live performances will also be available to view throughout the day, with works from the centre’s resident art groups such as The Philharmonic Winds, Frontier Danceland and Apsaras Arts at the Open Field. Check out contemporary dance from T.H.E Second Company (of T.H.E Dance Company) and storytelling and crosstalk sessions from The Storytelling Centre as well.

Take part in some guilt free shopping with the first ever Goodman Green Green Market, a sustainable lifestyle market that will feature almost 30 eco-conscious vendors, where visitors can purchase fresh local produce and reusable products. To keep visitors’ hunger satiated and thirst quenched, food trucks by The Travelling C.O.W. and Coffee Bandits will also be onsite. Festival goers are strongly encouraged to bring their own reusable bags and utensils, including straws, which will allow them to enjoy special promotions and initiatives.

Goodman Open House also coincides with the Artground’s inaugural 100 and 100 More Festival  for families and young children, including opening show Into The Blue Forest. Celebrate environmental awareness with Goodman Open House – Re: Imagined this Saturday, and keep those fingers green as you yourself join the process of creating and enjoying art throughout the festival.

Goodman Open House – Re: Imagined takes place at Goodman Arts Centre around Block M, O and the Astroturf on 26th May from 11am to 5pm. Admission is free, except for Reimagine the Dining Table. For the full schedule of events, read the brochure here
