LONDON – From the producers of the award-winning West End production The Scottsboro Boys comes an all new UK tour of Jane Austen’s Persusasion, opening this September at the Theatre Royal Winchester
Produced by Theatre6 and Catherine Schreiber, Persusasion is based off Austen’s very first novel of the same name, and this new production is set to be a world premiere featuring original live music by Maria Haïk Escudero. Adapted for the stage by Tinniswood Award-nominated Stephanie Dale (The Lost Boy, Giants on the Hill), Persuasion follows the story of the young Anne Elliot, falling madly in love with the handsome yet poor naval officer Captain Wentworth. Forced to reject his marriage proposal due to her status and society-obsessed family, the two lovers part ways miserably for years, before a chance encounter brings the two together again. Can Anne unite with her one true love, or is she doomed a lifetime of loneliness forevermore?
Persuasion will be directed by critically acclaimed Theatre6 artistic director Kate Mcgregor, with a cast led by Ceri-Lyn Cissone (The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Rocky Horror Show) as Anne, who will be joined by Matthew Atkins, Siobhán Gerrard, Indigo Griffiths, Jason Ryall and Lucinda Turner. This year, let the power of love and Austen guide you in life, in this exciting new UK tour of Persuasion from Theatre6.
