It’s been a long time coming, but the time has finally come for the latest batch of Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) students to graduate. For students Caroline Chin, Hau Guei Sze (a.k.a. Zizi), Lakshmana KP and Pooja Mohanraj, this will come in the form of their final production of the year, Extremities.
Playing at the Esplanade Theatre Studio, Extremities is written by Emmy-award winner William Mastrosimone and is inspired by the real-life experience of a rape survivor whose assailant was never convicted. The story of Extremities then follows sexual assault victim Marjorie, as she turns the tables on her would-be rapist Raul. But when her housemates return home and discover the situation, Marjorie realises that the odds may not be in her favour, as the manipulative Raul attempts to turn them against her.
Can Marjorie trust the police to believe her over Raul, or is she better off taking justice into her own hands? Directed by veteran director Aarne Neeme, watch as ITI’s 2018 cohort of actor-students showcase this harrowing psychological drama frankly discussing misogyny and sexual assault in their final graduation production.
Extremities plays at the Esplanade Theatre Studio from 29th November to 1st December 2018. Tickets available from Peatix
