Preview: Dick Lee’s The Mad Chinaman 30th Anniversary Concert
Following last year’s SingaPOPera concert celebrating the musicals of Dick Lee, the Mad Chinaman returns to the Esplanade Concert Hall this September for a one-night only concert!
The Mad Chinaman 30th Anniversary concert will naturally, feature Dick Lee himself, alongside the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of Music Director Adrian Tan, this special pop-classical crossover celebrates the 1989 release of Dick’s seminal work, The Mad Chinaman, often considered a musical biography and portrait of Dick as he attempted to discover his own cultural identity and what it means to be Singaporean.
Now, thirty years on, this journey of exploration remains as relevant and impactful as it did then, performed in its entirety in Singapore for the first time ever. Joined by special guests Jacintha Abisheganaden and Denise Tan – and gloriously accompanied by a symphony orchestra and chorus – Dick takes fans on a musical journey down memory lane, and promises a uniquely Singaporean treat for all. Don’t miss this rare chance to catch Dick in full musical action, as he brings the house down and takes you on his mad mad journey of self-discovery in The Mad Chinaman 30th Anniversary Concert!
Dick Lee’s The Mad Chinaman 30th Anniversary Concert plays on 15th September 2019 at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Tickets available from SISTIC
