The Night Garden marks the debut concert of Singaporean-based, Swiss-trained bassoon soloist Jo Anne Sukumaran, celebrating the launch of her solo album of the same name recorded in Montesilvano, Italy in 2018.
The Night Garden is set to be an exhilarating journey of discovery leading audienc members through the dusk, emerging into the light, a safe space for the heart and mind. In a chamber setting, a select classical repertoire from the album features works by Saint-Saëns, Tansman, Koechlin, Albert, Vivaldi, Ronnes and De Falla, as well as eastern inspiration from the Indian classical and modern world, where the atmospheric woodwind of the bassoon melds with tabla, tanpura, hand pan, frame drum, and electric guitar.
Leading Singaporean soloists adding to the magic are multi-percussionist Mohamed Noor, harpist Sarah Wong, pianist Rachel Chen, bassoonists Lee Hui and Goh Mok Cheong, and guitarist Lee Feng. Also featuring the world premiere of a specially commissioned piece by Canadian composer, Gabo Champagne.
This October, join Sukumaran and friends as they take you on a night of classical and fusion magic in The Night Garden.
The Night Garden will be held at the Esplanade Recital Studio on 20th October 2019. Tickets available from Peatix
