In celebration of Diwali, Rang Mahal, one of Singapore’s leading Indian fine-dining restaurants has launched its collection of mithais (sweet confections) comprising a range of healthy ingredients and wholesome flavours. In its continual efforts to support the community, the restaurant will also be donating 10% of profits from its mithai sales
to the Breast Cancer Foundation this year.
A stalwart in the culinary scene, Rang Mahal prides itself on maintaining a heritage of timeless flavours executed with culinary finesse. This same philosophy is extended to the craft of mithai making, with dedicated chefs sourcing the finest produce, both locally and from abroad to prepare these handcrafted sweets without the addition of any preservatives or food colouring. The mithais are also made in in small batches to ensure they are enjoyed at their freshest.
This year, Corporate Chef Milind Sovani and his culinary team pay tribute to tradition with a variety of classic mithai flavours chock-full of wholesome ingredients. Additionally, in keeping aligned with Rang Mahal’s belief of taking care of its guests’ well-being and providing them with more wholesome dining choices, the collection features ingredients such as gum herb which helps prevent strokes, coconut which is energising and boosts metabolism and pistachios which are a rich source of protein and antioxidants.
Embarking on the laborious sweet-making process usually spans about three days for each batch of mithais where all the action happens in Rang Mahal’s kitchen during non-operating hours; dedicated mithai chefs would clean, peel and soak the ingredients overnight before grinding, frying, cooling and moulding them into delicate bite-sized pieces. Finally, each sweet is then carefully packed into a gift box.
