In a company first, leading arts companies Nine Years Theatre joins forces with T.H.E. Dance Company to produce an all new physical theatre/movement piece inspired by the works of author Franz Kafka.
Kafka is best known for his surreal works that’ve influenced readers across the world, and certainly one of the most unique writers of the 20th century, with works such as The Metamorphosis, The Trial and The Castle reflecting on human alienation and the absurdity of bureaucracy. Nelson Chia of NYT and Kuik Swee Boon of T.H.E. are in the midst of preparing a cross-disciplinary work that can only be described as truly ‘Kafka-esque’, specially for the Esplanade’s 2018 Huayi Festival. Watch as the members of NYT and T.H.E. come together to ruminate on human nature in a spellbinding, oneiric journey as they undergo metamorphoses on stage.
Cut Kafka! plays at the Esplanade Theatre Studio as part of Huayi 2018 from 1st – 4th March. Tickets available from the Esplanade
