If you think ballet is all tutus and fairy tales, Dracula: Ballet at its Darkest is here to change your mind. Fresh from a sold-out run in London’s West End and acclaimed seasons across Australia and New Zealand, BIG Live’s gothic reimagining of Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale will make its Singapore debut at the Esplanade Theatre from 15 to 19 July 2026.

Part of the company’s international 2026–2027 tour, the production replaces traditional ballet’s romantic elegance with something far darker. Through powerful choreography, cinematic staging, and an evocative original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Jason Fernandez, Dracula: Ballet at its Darkest explores themes of grief, obsession, desire, and the destructive nature of love.

Rather than retelling the familiar vampire story, the production traces Dracula’s origins as Vlad, a warrior who descends into darkness after losing his wife. Centuries later, the arrival of newlyweds Jonathan and Mina at his castle reignites an all-consuming obsession, unfolding through movement instead of dialogue.

Created by choreographer and BIG Live co-founder Joel Burke, the production blends classical ballet technique with contemporary theatrical storytelling. The result is an immersive performance that aims to appeal not only to ballet enthusiasts but also fans of gothic romance, psychological drama, and visually striking live theatre.

The production’s atmospheric world is brought to life through elaborate gothic-inspired set design by award-winning CTS Design, creating a haunting backdrop that complements its emotionally charged choreography.
