Following their production of new work Einstein in the Carpark at the Huayi festival earlier this year, experimental theatre company Emergency Stairs welcomes audiences into their home in an industrial estate in Mattar as they present OFFSTAGE.

Staged by members of Emergency Stairs’ training arm, Emergency Shelter, OFFSTAGE is an all new work that examines the various roles behind the scenes of every theatre production. From the creative team of writer and director, all the way to stage crews and even administrative roles such as ticketing and marketing personnel, Emergency Shelter will explore how we can look at these roles in different ways, performing each role differently from how they’ve been established in society.

Emergency Shelter consists of nine varied members at various stages of their theatre career, namely Chanel Chan, Chong Woon Yong, Darren Guo, Zachary Ho, WahWah Hung Chit Wah, Doreen Toh, Theresa Wee-Yenko, Jasmine Xie and Lina Yu, and they will take on the roles of both cast and crew in this production. Expect a paradigm shift as lines are blurred and roles are subverted with this bold new take on what it means to work in theatre.

OFFSTAGE plays at STAIRCASE@Soon Wing Industrial Building #06-14 from 30th May to 3rd June. Tickets available from Peatix.
